At this year's Google I/O developer conference, a new prototype tablet running Google's open source Android mobile operating system was on display. The Foxconn-manufactured tablet is based on NVIDIA's Tegra 2 platform and features an 8.9 inch WSVGA display (1024x600), a 1 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9-based processor and 1 GB of RAM – likely making the device more than capable of 1080p video playback.
According to Netbooknews.com (http://www.netbooknews.com/3869/google-io-nvidia-tegra-2-prototype-tablet-running-backbreaker/), other hardware features include a built-in webcam and microphone, audio jacks, a docking connection and two USB ports. The prototype was running Android 2.1, is approximately 1 CM thick and memory is reportedly expandable via a MicroSD card slot.
Official launch details, such as pricing or availability, however, have yet to be confirmed and its final specifications could still change. A number of images and a short video of the prototype Android-based tablet running a game called "Backbreaker" are available (http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/19/foxconns-tegra-2-powered-android-tablet-hands-on-video/).
