If you are into Facebook, you have another option now. Google has introduced social gadgets that lets you share, collaborate and play games with friends on igoogle homepage, with a not so subtle Facebook like feel . The 19 social gadgets that have been unveiled include Chess, Scrabble , Trivia, a sharable to-do list and media sharing gadgets. The unmistakable similarities with Facebook do not stop there. You can provide status updates to your editable set of friends group with feeds, pictures and what not.

The gadgets are highly customizable and Google hopes to build on its 60,0000 applications ( including the 19 social) through the iGoogle developer community. iGoogle social gadgets can be shared individually with “friends” of your choice, leaving room for varying layers of privacy with different people, which is nice if you get trapped into an overbearingly extensive friends and family circle. I have a feeling that that fact alone might give many enough incentive to jump ship from FB.;)
