Oracle (http://www.opensourcegroups.com/www.oracle.com)decided to break its silence and indulge in a grand gesture.It placed full page ad in the European edition of The Wall Street Journal listing four plans the company has in store for SPARC and Solaris. Larry Ellison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Ellison)goes as far as to say that they are looking forward to competing with IBM in the hardware business.
The European choice is of course a not so subtle move on Oracle’s part considering that the European Union recently delayed its decision over Oracle’s acquisition of Sun Microsystems due to concerns about Sun's open source products. The ad makes no mention of MySql however.
