Last week was a great week for Mozilla fans as the latest version of Firefox was launched in 70 languages. It does work much faster than it’s previous version (thanks to a new Java script engine) with enhanced HTML5 video and audio features .FF 3.5 seems to be comparable to IE 8 on many points including a private browsing feature similar to IE’s in private browsing allowing us to wipe out our browsing history including passwords, visited pages and search bar entries. Many new features include a little plus sign denoting tab waiting to be opened. (This is one welcome FF improvement that IE has already nailed down). Firefox 3.5 proposes an optional geolocation technology that lets websites know where you are based, to tailor make your search results akin to IE’s “suggested sites “. All in all FF and IE are more similar than ever and if you are loyal to either one, you will likely not convert. FF supposedly had about 5 million downloads the first 24 hours. Firefox’s astute use of social networking to spread their message (remember the Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads in 24 hours for its Firefox 3 browser? ) has already earned Firefox 3.5 alone , 2.5% of global market share according to some sources. Quite impressive considering that it already has bagged about 22% with it's previous version as compared to IE’s 65%.
