Google rocked the tech world yesterday with its press release publicizing its intention to go toe to toe with Microsoft and release its own operating system, Chrome, independent of Windows or MAC . Meant for netbooks and laptops, it is expected to hit the market late 2010. The fact that chrome OS, like the chrome browser will be open source should be exciting for open source communities. "We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds," Google said in its press release . Security also seems to be a top priority. Although the web is buzzing with questions and understandable skepticism, I have a feeling Google, which arguably has some of the best talent in the biz will have things ironed out quite nicely. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will beg to differ!
