Well, many people seem to think so. With top companies like Google embracing the cloud without inhibitions and building ginormous data centers, things seem to be looking up for OS. Traditionally Google has been very pro-open source and has already adopted open source standards on many fronts. It therefore makes sense to presume that it would be a part of the cloud offering as well. Lower cost and a strong technical base in companies like Amazon and Google could favor adaptation to an OS environment. Further many OS vendors are throwing cloud computing in the mix by offering hosted options in their community editions or partnering with companies that provide ancillary tools through cloud further intertwining the two. What do you think? Will cloud computing promote open source in any significant manner or do you think there is no direct link between them?
