VLCrThe free and open source VLC Media Player recently released it’s 1.0 version with enhancements such as instantaneous pauce, on-the-fly recording, frame-by-frame playback, better subtitle handling, timeshifting support, a recently played items list and improved support for several media formats.
VLC is an open source development community that you can join.It originated as an academic project in 1996, developed by students at the École Centrale Paris (http://www.opensourcegroups.com/wiki/%C3%89cole_Centrale_Paris). Now it is ndeveloped by contributors worldwide. The new version is available for download (http://www.videolan.org/) from the project's website. The last time i checked it was getting downloaded at the rate of 10 downloads per second with more than 7,000,000 downloads in total and still going strong!
