Kaltura, Inc. (http://corp.kaltura.com/) developer of the first open source video platform has been getting more than its share of recognition recently. Kaltura was named a Strong Performer in "The Forrester Wave(TM): US Online Video Platforms, Q4 2009" (November 2009), (http://corp.kaltura.com/Forrester_Research_Online_Video_Platform_Wave_Repo rt.)an independent research report. Kaltura received the research's highest mark in 'customer base' and was ranked among the top three platforms across all major evaluation categories.
According to the report, Kaltura is a "newer entrant to the market," yet the company has already amassed more than 35,000 "registered active customers under its monthly or free offering." The report also states that "Kaltura offers a highly differentiated video platform option, which allows organizations to fully own the open source code at no charge. The company also impresses with pioneering user-generated video that allows viewers to remix video clips. Additionally, the open community at Kaltura.org provides a great resource for innovation and sharing in development. As a newer entrant to the market, Kaltura has started with a solid entry."
Research firm IDC has also endorsed Kaltura as one of "10 innovative application companies under $100M to watch" Earlier in October, Kaltura was named one of the world's five most promising startups focused on open source at the Open World Forum in Paris selected based on their innovation, quality of execution, and potential for value creation.
