MyBroadband reports that Firefox, the open source web browser, turned five this month. To celebrate this milestone, it also hit a new landmark in its popularity – one in four web users now uses Firefox to surf the web.
At the beginning of 2009, Firefox had a 22% market share, trailing behind Internet Explorer’s 70%. However, by October, Internet Explorer dropped to a 64.6% market share due to its Internet Explorer 6 browser – with its lost 5% being distributed to Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari.
