StatCounter breaks up the browser market for 2009
According to online visitor stats tool StatCounter Global Stats (http://gs.statcounter.com/), Firefox 3.5 has overtaken Internet Explorer 7 as the most widely-used web browser in the world . Mozilla’s latest open source browser, Firefox 3.5 holds a market share of 21.9% to IE7 ‘s 21.2%. Internet Explorer’s latest version, IE 8, comes in third at 20.3%.
But Microsoft still stands number one at 55.4% when all of its versions are pooled together while Firefox caters to 32% of browser market. The rest of the players occupy the following positions:
Chrome 5.5%
Safari 3.5%
Opera 2%.
