Even as we try to digest a mixed quarterly earnings reports, a few open source companies have boasted excellent results.
Funambol (http://www.funambol.com/), the leading provider of open source mobile cloud sync software, today announced that sales in the second quarter of 2009 grew exponentially. The company acquired several major customers and forged important strategic partnerships in the past three months.
User adoption of the company's software is also exploding. Funambol software was part of a highly anticipated major new handset introduced in June. Funambol was behind the recently launched GoJAJAH mobile VoIP service. Users of the company's commercial software now exceed several million, in addition to the many millions of community users of Funambol's mobile open source software. Funambol recently introduced a major new version of its open source mobile cloud sync software that syncs billions of mobile phones.
Liferay, Inc (http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/home), provider of Liferay Portal, the world’s leading open source portal for the enterprise, reports significant revenue growth in the European market with its newest office in Madrid, Spain. Liferay Spain’s contributions included several major client wins via an expanded partner network as well as growing sales of Enterprise Edition subscriptions.
