An Open Standards Development Platform for Integrators and Developers to Create Customized Applications and Devices

ZiiLABS (http://www.zii.com/Developer/Landing.aspx), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd. today announced the launch of a hardware and software open standards development platform called Plaszma . The Zii Plaszma Platform includes the Zii EGG StemCell Computer, Plaszma OS and Plaszma SDK.
The Zii EGG is an energy efficient handheld StemCell Computer that according to the press release (http://www.zii.com/Technology/ViewArticle.aspx?Article=3) “provides the essential building block that empowers developers, system integrators, OEMs and ODMs to efficiently and economically develop compelling media-rich devices. They can rapidly bring to market an extensive range of devices and applications, even under their own brand.”
Positioned to take on iPod touch, it can also run on Android and comes with a price tag of $199. Its hardware has been built to impress with front and rear facing cameras, HD playback, 1080p video output, OpenGL ES support, X-Fi audio processing, 32GB of built-in memory and a full SD slot.
